About Jiukai OEM-Compatible Universal Joints

Jiukai 9K Driveshaft manufactures universal joint cross kits to the same SAE dimensional standards that govern all OEM Spicer, Dana, and Moog production. When a cross kit is made to the same standard, it installs into the same yoke bore, retains with the same snap-ring groove dimension, and operates at the same torque rating as the original part. The only difference is the brand name on the packaging.

Spicer (a registered trademark of Dana Incorporated) and Moog (a registered trademark of Federal-Mogul) are referenced on this page solely for cross-reference and compatibility identification purposes. Jiukai products are aftermarket replacement parts and are not manufactured by or affiliated with Dana Incorporated or Federal-Mogul.

The Jiukai production facility in Haining, Zhejiang covers 12,000 m² and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, TS/16949, and CE certification. Bearing caps are cylindrically ground to h6 tolerance on CNC equipment with in-process gauging, and needle rollers are sorted to DIN 5402-1 Class C. Dimensional inspection reports and material certificates are available for every production batch on request.

How to Identify Your Spicer Universal Joint Series

Spicer universal joints are identified by two physical dimensions, not by the part number stamped on the original box. The part number on a worn or damaged cross kit may be illegible, and different OEM suppliers can use different numbering formats for the same SAE series. The reliable method is to measure:

Step 1 — Measure Cap OD (Dimension A)

Use an outside micrometer or digital calliper on the outer diameter of one bearing cap. This is dimension A in the SAE specification. Common values: 27 mm (1310), 30.2 mm (1330), 35 mm (1350), 41 mm (1410/1480), 42 mm (1550), 48 mm (1710), 50 mm (1810).

Step 2 — Measure Snap-Ring Span (Dimension B)

Measure the outside-face-to-outside-face distance across a pair of opposite caps. This is dimension B. Two series can share the same cap OD but differ in span — for example, the 1410 (108 mm) and 1480 (118 mm) both use a 41 mm cap. Always measure both dimensions.

Step 3 — Match to the Cross-Reference Table

Find the row in the table above where both A and B match your measurements. The Jiukai model in that row is your direct replacement. If you are unsure, email your measurements to [email protected] and we will confirm the correct series.

Jiukai vs Spicer vs Moog: What Actually Differs

Many buyers assume that OEM Spicer universal joints are engineered to a higher standard than quality aftermarket alternatives. In practice, all cross kits in the same SAE series share the same dimensional specification. The differences between brands are in manufacturing process controls, steel grade, heat treatment consistency, and needle roller quality — not in the external dimensions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Jiukai universal joint a direct replacement for a Spicer universal joint?
Yes, provided the series is the same. A Jiukai 4.01 replaces a Spicer 5-153X; a Jiukai 8.01 replaces a Spicer 5-1350X; and so on for every series in the table above. Both are manufactured to the same SAE dimensional standard, so the Jiukai part fits the same yoke bore, uses the same snap-ring groove, and carries the same torque rating as the Spicer original. Spicer is a trademark of Dana Incorporated; Jiukai is an aftermarket supplier and is not affiliated with Dana.
How do I find the Moog universal joint cross reference?
Moog references the SAE series number in their part numbers: Moog 447 is the 1310 series, Moog 460 is the 1330 series, Moog 517 is the 1350 series, and Moog 576 is the 1410 series. Moog does not produce cross kits for the 1480 series and above. Find your Moog part number in the cross-reference table above and order the corresponding Jiukai model.
What is the difference between a Spicer 5-153X and a Spicer 5-1310X?
Both references describe a 1310 series cross kit with a 27 mm cap OD and 74.6 mm snap-ring span. The suffix format changed in Spicer’s catalogue numbering system over time; the underlying part is identical. Jiukai model 4.01 replaces either reference.
Can I order a Spicer universal joint size chart?
The cross-reference table at the top of this page serves the same purpose as a Spicer size chart: it lists every standard SAE series with cap OD, snap-ring span, and the corresponding Jiukai, Spicer, Dana, and Moog references. You can print the table directly from this page. For a downloadable PDF version, contact [email protected].
Do you supply OEM private-label universal joints?
Yes. Jiukai offers OEM private-label packaging on all cross-kit series with a minimum order of 200 pieces per SKU. Your brand name, part number, and barcode are printed on the packaging; the product is identical to the standard Jiukai range. Contact [email protected] or use the enquiry form to discuss OEM supply terms.

Why Workshops Choose Jiukai Over OEM Spicer

Independent workshops and fleet maintenance teams increasingly source Jiukai universal joints in place of OEM Spicer parts for two primary reasons: landed cost and documentation. A Jiukai cross kit arrives at a US or EU distributor at 40–60 percent of the OEM Spicer retail price while meeting the same SAE dimensional specification. For a workshop fitting 50 to 200 cross kits per year, this differential represents a significant cost saving that flows directly to margin or competitive pricing.

The second reason is documentation. Jiukai provides CMM dimensional inspection reports, material test certificates, and CE Declarations of Conformity for every production batch — documentation that OEM Spicer does not routinely supply to aftermarket distributors. Fleet operators and OEM procurement teams who require documented quality evidence for their supplier qualification process find Jiukai easier to onboard than sourcing the same documentation from a large OEM supplier.

GMB universal joints are another common aftermarket reference. The GMB 210-0153 is a 1310-series cross kit with the same 27 mm cap OD and 74.6 mm span as the Jiukai 4.01. GMB references in the 210 series generally correspond to SAE 1310, and references in the 230 series correspond to SAE 1330. If you have a GMB part number and need the Jiukai equivalent, email [email protected] with the GMB number and we will confirm the cross-reference immediately.
